Ethan Meaney
Senior Attorney, Ethan Meaney
Senior Attorney, Ethan Meaney has been practicing in the areas of DUII/DUI and criminal defense since 2001. Yes, since nearly the turn of the century. First recognized as a Super Lawyer 2014, he’s now in his tenth year running. As you might expect, Ethan brings to the Donahue Law Firm team a wealth of experience, knowledge, and incredible successes–with more to come.
Meaney has represented thousands of DUII and Criminal Defense cases, as well as multiple appellate court victories. Graduating magna Cum Laude from Northern State University in 1996 and then in the top quarter of his calls in 1999 from the University of South Dakota School of Law, he is not only an exception criminal defense attorney, he is also a scholar. A skill he utilizes in motions to suppress unlawfully obtained evidence, strategically crafted appellate briefs, and legal research that puts prosecutors.
Immediately out of law school, Meaney clerked for the Honorable, Richard C. Perkins, of the Minnesota First Judicial District Court. He then joined the law firm of Hoff, Barry & Kuderer in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, where he was the sole criminal prosecutor. His experience as a prosecutor provides Meaney with a unique understanding of criminal law from the prosecutor’s point of view–something he has successfully utilized in defending his clients against the state’s allegations.
In 2001, Meaney joined the criminal defense firm of Gerald Miller & Associates, where he defended hundreds of criminal defendants throughout the state. During with him at Gerald Miller, he tried countless license revocation hearings (Implied Consent Hearings), vehicle forfeiture, criminal defense cases, and appellate cases. In 2005, he co-founded Meaney & Patron. In 2024, seeking a different adventure, Meaney left the firm he co-founded and now resides in the beautiful state of Oregon.
I absolutely love practicing in the areas of DUI and Criminal Defense defense because it gives me the opportunity to help people in an area of law that has become too harsh on Oregon drivers, especially with regard to loss of license privileges and mandatory jail time. – Ethan Meaney
